I'm happy to announce that Cyn.in 3.1.1 release is now available. This release is a follow-up release to Cyn.in v3.1, with several bugfixes and minor improvements, so I recommend that everybody update to this release as soon as possible.

cyn.in collaboration software 3.1.1

Key fixes:

  • Search results page was broken. Fixed.
  • New: Manual translations for German and Japanese contributed by Community members.
  • Links in password reset emails were not working in Japanese and a few other languages. Fixed.
  • Desktop Client installation would fail if Adobe AIR was not present on the system at all, nothing would happen when the Yes button was clicked on the "Install Adobe AIR?" message. Fixed.
  • Bookmark links when clicked by anonymous users would directly navigate to the bookmarked remote page instead of showing the bookmark page with description, comments, etc. Fixed.

Minor fixes / improvements:

  • Minor cosmetic changes to the language drop down selector, the larger font size makes it easier to read.
  • New CSS3 shadows! These are visible only in Firefox 3.5+ or in latest Webkit engine browsers (Safari 4+ and Google Chrome 4+) at the moment. IE and other browsers are still playing catch up on this.
  • The mindmap portlet was not working on the Space dashboards in some cases. Fixed.
  • Incorrect WebDAV URLs on sites running under a directory. Fixed.
  • Sometimes an item's date would show in a different language than the chosen one, the x hours ago functionality has been removed and now the numerical dates are shown.

The Cynapse office has been abuzz with action for the past couple of days. The dev team has been working hard to meet the timelines to release the new Updates for cyn.in. The changes have finally been implemented and I am very excited to present the new updates to you.

But before that, a big applause for our cyn.in dev team who build at supersonic speeds marked by meticulous precision and deliver to meet extreme timelines. I bet NASA would do anything to get them on their side!

Update #3 includes a few bug fixes and some really interesting feature enhancements that are focused to improve usability. The web space of cyn.in have been modified to increase SEO optimization of the the content. The search engines will find reading content from the cyn.in sites much easier than before.

Introducing the Page Slider

Have you been on Page 2 of your notes list, clicked on the back button of your browser and not been able to go back to Page 1? Have you often felt the need of the Page Slider to be at the bottom of the notes list? Well, your wishes just came true.

cyn.in introduces an innovative Page Slider with two way usability. So you can now directly jump to the page you wish to see or simply browse through the pages.

The dropdown on the slider smoothly rolls out a sleek bar with the list of the pages. Simply click on the page number you want to browse to and access the notes on that page. The paging also gives you the advantage to bookmark a page and navigate to it directly.

This new slider aims to reduce your time to browse through your notes and work more efficiently. The Slider is now also placed at the bottom of the pages. This enhances your browsing experience as well as increases efficiency.

Selective Comment Deletion

The site owner has the rights to delete all comments on a note in cyn.in. This didn't work out to be as functional as there are times, when you want to keep a few comments and do away with the rest.

With the new enhancements, the owners of a site can choose the comments they want to delete. Comments once deleted cannot be got back again. The option to delete all comments is still available.

Better Attachment Layout

The boring two attachment in a row layout has now been replaced to adjust to your screen resolution. Higher the resolution of your screen, more number of attachments will fit in a row.

This will help reduce the length of the page again enhancing your usage experience. No more long pages to scroll through

Feature Requests and Feedback

We would love to hear what you think of the recent updates. We use cyn.in internally for our knowledge and project management requirements and increasing the speed of operation and usability is a task close to all of our hearts and we strive to achieve it.

We are always open to feeback and feature requests. So go ahead, try out your updated cyn.in site and tell us what you like/dislike. Post your comments right here or in the support forums.

Subscribe to the Updates SlashTag

RSS Feeds are an easy way to keep track of the updates to your cyn.in site. Just Subscribe to the "Updates RSS feed" (see left side bar) and the updates will be sent straight into your RSS reader.

cyn.in update number 2 rolled out this morning, with minor bugfixes, and a few small changes in the functioning of the user interface. Presenting... The Preview window! Clicking on a file thumbnail now pops up a preview window. A few discerning users might have already found this window (earlier, it would only appear if the file name was clicked). If the file is an image you can view (and download) the image in its original size and percentage resized sizes as well. The image resizing options allow percentage downsized downloads which can be extremely useful for the digital asset management customers of cyn.in. You can upload your original large creatives and download them resized to your requirements. This functionality is supported by cyn.in's unique dynamic image downsizer feature which allows image downloads at any percentage or resolution scale at high quality. More interface functionality is coming up on this soon, as usual, we'll keep you posted right here. The file preview window also allows you to preview and download attachments of previous versions of the note as well - the cyn.in versioning system automatically creates new revisions for files that are updated. Going back Home In cyn.in the lowest common unit of information is the note. Each note has a page view dedicated to showing note information in full glory - you can see all the SlashTags a note belongs to (bolded) as well as view details (if you're a logged in member of the site) and have further interactions with that note. You can see this view (we call it the Single Note View) every time you create a new note, or when you click the note's title, later. We now provide a link to go back to the home SlashTag from this Single Note View as shown in the picture along side. This will take you back to the Home SlashTag of the Space that this note is on, currently. Edit your Profile When you login to a cyn.in site, you will see a new Edit Profile link next to your name. This link will take you to your profile page. In cyn.in all users have a common profile, that can be edited by clicking on this Edit Profile link. This link would earlier appear only for guest cyn.in users, we've now brought uniformity to the user interface - professional and enterprise site users will also now get this link next to their names. Feedback As always, any kind of feedback is welcome and appreciated. Just post in the support forums (available to all members of both Enterprise and Professional sites).

Our first update has been released!

Date: I bet some of you noticed that we're now showing the date and authors on the note Info bar now - this gives you succinct information about when the note was last updated and who the authors of the note are. You can now go ahead and brag about your new cool looking cyn.in bliki to all your friends. :)

Multiple authors: When a note has more than one author, we show the first names of as many authors we can on the Infobar. Of course, the full names of the authors can be seen by clicking on the Show Info link on the right.

Bugfixes & Enhancements: Under the hood there have been several enhancements and fixes. This includes better error reporting, enhanced single note view (click on the title of a note to see the note in it's full glory), and numerous other small fixes to solve problems that would have manifested themselves over time.

How do you upgrade?
If you're a site owner, all you have to do to upgrade is....... nothing! Your site has been upgraded automatically as part of this cyn.in maintenance release. Upgrades are automatically provisioned to all sites as soon as they are ready. You don't have to do anything - no installations, no configurations, no worries - your site has been automatically updated to the latest release without you lifting a finger. Now is that cool or what? :)
