You probably couldn't find documentation on this, because you can't really install Cyn.in on the "native" Windows operating system. Cyn.in ISO CD is packaged as a tuned Operating System that is fully self-sufficient. The idea is that you run Cyn.in under a virtualization platform as a guest OS on your choice of host OS if you cannot dedicate a full server computer for it.
The Cyn.in ISO CD distribution is a bootable CD that you can install as a "new virtual machine" into any of the above. Just create a new virtual machine and boot with Cyn.in ISO file mounted.
While it is *technically* possible to attempt a Cyn.in buildout (from the source code snapshot) on Windows on the native OS, but you'd have to know and fix a whole lot of problems like library dependencies. You'd have to also know quite a bit about buildout and internal mechanisms (easy_install) and respective "quirks" that are present on Windows.
I recommend that you try out the virtualization route, instead. Much less pain, there. :)
I'm trying to install on WinXP machine. I'd appreciate some instructions on what to do after installing VirtualBox. No sure what the operating system to select etc etc Want to test Cyn.in before driving the initiative.
Use Debian as OS, and remember to change networking mode to "Bridged". When the install completes from the CD and reboots, in the command console, login with username root and the password you set during setup. Once inside, type "/sbin/ifconfig" command, it will give you as ouput, the IP address that the Cyn.in virtual machine is running at (eth0, look for IPv4)
Once you have the IP address, simply load it up in a web browser, and if you see the familiar Cyn.in interface, you're up and running, congratulations! :)
hi dhiraj, I have a debian version of cyn.in setup as a virtual machine on vmware server. I load it up on my web browser and I get a broken page that has the following:

After that, download the VMPlayer and open the VMX file with it. Once you've done that, make sure to mount the Cyn.in ISO to the virtual CD in VMplayer, then boot to it and install as normal. That's it! Whenever you want to crank up your test environment, just open up your VM in Player and leave it running.
Our Company is really interessted in this product, after I showed the VM running the free edition :) But we have one mature problem with this: it stores all the files and documents on the Debian Server!! We already have a file system (SAN with NTFS) with all the files. CynIn would be perfect, if it would build on this existing files... Is there any chance to do this?
Yes, It is possible to have all the files to be stored on a SAN (requires custom development), and it would require an EXT* partition on your SAN instead of a NTFS partition, however even if the Cyn.in files are stored on SAN it is not recommended that they be directly accessible for the users to add/edit/view instead use WebDAV/FTP interfaces that Cyn.in exposes for content stored in it.

Now we have to set the Build / Development environment for the cynapse tool. How to do this?. From below link, i got some information. But it gave me some confusion like
