Wouldn't it be an idea to have an "alternative shortened URL" visible in footer, maybe like this...

Hmm... this is in the works at the moment, our discussion URLs are really too long, we'll re-work this soon.

As of Cyn.in release 3.1.3 discussion names in URLs are now being cropped to 80 characters. Hope this helps. :)
