Thanks. It could be an option. The problem is that you will need to give administrative permissions to all people who want to set important messages and still lose the possibility to broadcast in included spaces. You will need to put that porlet in all spaces or make some kind of inheritance.

well if to act administratively you can just add a portlet with a list of very important links to needed posts

Hi again. I hope that this is the place to put more ideas on sticky content. I have a use case. We start to use cynin in a open project trying to create communities of practice about several themes, most of them related with Information and Communication Technologies for Education and Science. This led us to and emergent organization. So we start with spaces that was, with the time, part of bigger spaces. I think that this behavior will repeat in the time. So I would like to send a message in a space and broadcast it as an sticky content of all spaces inside it and get a similar notice in top of the contained space as when we start a new discussion or someone has a working copy of a content, but this will be sticky (always on top). Which parts we need to hack for getting this behavior?

Cheers,

Hmm..., this is potentially another good idea, letting a user define a Wiki page for themselves and then linking it from the User Info cluetip on click of username. You have my +1. :)

Will think about this.

This would be more of a "conceptual" feature, where we could ask the user to setup a Wiki page for themselves during ..... a wizard that starts off on first-time user login, which could also be used to do other things like make the user upload an avatar portrait, fill in their profile data, and so on. The User's Wiki page could be "included" on their /author profile page, or at least linked from there as well.

Yes, This is the idea. especially for presentation pages like the one in the example of iamlaozhao. About the coment of dhiraj, you could setup a max number of sticky notes per user or space (say 2), so you can not obsfuscate the Activity Stream with sticky content.

The sticky content seems to be like a notice, it is prior for some intention. It should be seen as soon as any related members log in cyn.in.

For example I write a wiki to introduce myself, so I hope every one will see it at once when click my head portrait or open my profile page.

Hmm... interesting idea.

But isn't this the same as the like / dislike idea in the Rating feature?

Or are you saying you want to *administratively* be able to set some items as sticky on top of all lists like in "regular" forums (PHPBB pops into my mind immediately) ? But.... this is kind of counter-productive, no? I mean ..... pretty soon you'll be running out of items to show as updates in the Activity Stream if you keep adding "sticky" items, and users will have to click on Page 2 to see what happened?

Or do you want it as a way to ..... "favorite" items that are of interest to you alone, for your own later quick finding? There's internally a carry-forwarded-as-disabled-until-it-gets-fixed feature in plone for this, btw.
