Working with Templates

Create and share custom dashboard templates.

Numerics empowers you with dashboard templates, allowing you to design a dashboard once and deploy it across your team or organization. With this feature, you can streamline your processes and ensure consistency in your data tracking efforts.

Importing a Dashboard Template

Importing dashboard templates in Numerics is a breeze. If you've received a dashboard template via email, text message, or any iOS communication or file handling app, you can import it directly into your Numerics app:

  1. Tap on the template file that has been shared with you. If you've saved the template file to a location in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or any other file-sharing app, you need to tap the '+' button in the dashboards list and select 'Import Template'.

  2. The import wizard will then prompt you to choose the Numerics Template File. To do this, tap the button to navigate to the location of the template file. (By default, Numerics will take you to your iCloud Drive. If you've saved the template file to Dropbox or Google Drive, tap the name of the location in the 'Locations' list to navigate and find the file.)

  3. Once you've located the file, select the template and follow the instructions in the walk-through guide to import the dashboard. The nifty import tool auto-connects widgets to your accounts and profile data. If you don’t have those accounts connected already, the import tool prompts to connect new accounts.

Exporting a Dashboard Template

Create a dashboard template from any of your existing dashboards and share it securely with your team. Numerics ensures that no secure data or credentials are shared with the template - just the dashboard layout and widget configurations:

  1. Inside the dashboard, tap the 'Share' button and choose 'Save as Template'. This will bring up the file location interface.

  2. Navigate to the location where you'd like to save the template file and hit 'Move' on the top right corner. If you want to save to another location, like Dropbox or Google Drive, tap the name of the location in the 'Locations' list to choose your preferred location.

  3. You can now share the saved dashboard template via iMessage, Email, Dropbox or any iOS communication or file handling app.

FAQ

If you encounter issues while importing or exporting dashboard templates, check the following:

Q: What should I do if my template file isn't importing?
A: Firstly, make sure the template file is in the correct format and hasn't been corrupted. If you're accessing templates from cloud storage services like iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or Google Drive, check your internet connection.

Q: I've checked my template and my internet connection, but the dashboard still won't import. What should I do next?
A: If you're still unable to import the dashboard after checking the template file and your internet connection, try restarting the Numerics app and repeat the import process.

Q: Why can't I access the template file from my file-sharing app?
A: To access files from third-party apps, you need the necessary permissions. Ensure that you have these permissions to access the file location.

Q: What should I do if I can't export my dashboard template?
A: If you're unable to export the dashboard, make sure you have sufficient storage space in the location you're trying to save to. If space is not an issue, check your internet connection and the permissions to save files in the chosen location.
